Andre Ward is capable of winning this, however he doesn't look as good as he used to be. The long lay off and fighting the last two journeyman will not prepare him for Kovalev.

hi dude, sergey is one of the best boxer right now, so i likes his style on the ring but ward's technical skills better than sergey's skills. therefore I think no chance outside KO for sergey. when bernard hopkins faced with sergey, he's 48! too old... finally I need to say: i didn't like the performance of andre ward in the last two matches. if he not reach the maximum performance, he'll lose this match. cheers

Kovalev did a great job against B-Hop. Superb control of distance and display of patience against a master spoiler.

That being said, B-Hop was ancient and only idiots were claiming Kovalev was going to get 'schooled' against him. Don't care if Ward has slipped a little, he's still a very special fighter and it is very hard to pick against him.

I think Ward has it easier in the sense that he can simply fight his fight. There's huge risk with Kovalev, but Ward's default setting is all he needs to go with. No major need to adjust. He's naturally set up to defuse a dangerous fighter.

It's different for Kovalev. He can box but does he want to do that in this fight? Will he end up playing Ward's game? Does he go out all guns blazing instead? If he does, is there a risk of gassing?

Kovalev has a very real shot, but I feel like he needs to make more magic happen to win. Ward just needs to be himself and for that reason I lean towards him.
