Nice breakdown. Is it just me or is this fight being promoted poorly. Have yet to hear anything on espn or anywhere outside of these forums about this fight.
I agree, the promotion should be better for a fight of this caliber. The only way I learned of the upcoming HBO special was through this forum. I understand that buying television air time can be expensive but they should at least promote heavily on internet platforms like Youtube, etc.

But heroin addict or not, at least Ward's father had money, Ward grew up in a good neighborhood and his father took him to the boxing gym very often. Kovalev grew up poor in a rough neighborhood and had fewer opportunities, having a disabled father.
Oakland is 20 mins from me and I don't even know much about Ward's beginnings lol. The guy has never just really piqued my interest, and being local doesn't do enough for me. I can go to his gym, and coulda gone any time, but just never really cared to meet the guy or watch him train or anything of the sort. I respect his talent and think highly of his skills in the ring, but I've never gotten fired up for anything having to do with Ward, lol.

Wards a 1 handed fighter. His right shoulders messed. Also the smaller guy with slightly lower workrate .

        I like kovalev by decision

Ward had his shoulder repaired while he was on hiatus. You're right though, he seems hesitant to throw it, almost like he doesn't trust that he won't hurt it again. That being said, he's fought with one handed his entire career so I don't think it'll be much of a detriment to his overall game plan.

I was coming to reply to the post you quoted, rewatching the Brand fight, I don't think it's fair to call Ward a one-handed fighter. He throws the right, and throws some hard shots with it. He's a left-hand dominant fighter anyway, being a natural lefty. Not entirely unlike a guy like Dela Hoya. But he may be somewhat hesitant to throw it, due to the injury. Hard to be sure though.

Not sure of the exact percentage but Ward doesn't seem to throw the right hand with regularity. Maybe its a calculated measure where he mainly utilizes the right hand for defensive measures and throws it only when he's sure it will land (inside fighting). Whatever he's doing is working so I'm not trying to knock him. I'm sure he'll open up his entire offensive if pushed by the right opponent.
