Sure there is. At the end of the day it is entertainment. That said, Ward's entertainment value has nothing to do with his skills in the ring. Entertaining to the average Joe does'nt equate to skill. While I would like to see him let his hands go more I absolutely love watching him fight on the inside. Not many guys can fight on the inside like he does and I think it is beautiful to watch. The guy is surgical and damaging when working in close. People see a couple clips of a headbutt and all of the sudden anything he does on the inside is cheating.

fair enough mate, id just like to see him cut the fouling and the smothering and as you said, let his hands go a bit more. think it would be a real shame if an event like this turns out to be a dud

all im asking for his him to fight like a man and not foul and ruin the event for everyone. he should care about entertaining, seen as people are spending good money on PPV's and tickets. surely he doesnt want to continue to be seen as boring ward.

Great fighters can find a way to win ANY STYLE! So yeah if Kovalev is that "Great" then he will find a way to beat Ward and if he does then I will give him nothing but respect and full credit for it. I won't come and accuse him of being on something or make excuse or any of that but people like you, you're already making excuses!

You want new Rules in place before the fight, you don't want the ref to allow any inside fighting or anything you want everything to be Taylor Made for Kovalev to win

no, i dont want 'new rules' in place, i just want standard rules in place, no headbutting and no excessive clinching. even if (when) ward fights negative i think kovalev will beat him by UD. but id like ward to make a fight of it and trade with him instead of boring everyone to tears.

well, he would still be remembered a lot more fondly if he had one fought which he didnt send everyone to sleep with. ward doesnt have a glass chin to protect or anything, no reason for him to be so mind numbingly boring as he is. as i said before im not expecing him to go out throwing bombs, just not fight as dirty and ugly as usual

Seriously some of you take it as a personal offense if a fighter isn't exactly textbook.

Yes, to rough up your opponent on the inside, to clinch and fight in it, to use you lateral movement and head movement to get out of the way of punches are the part of the sport. Whether your overly sensitive, bigot ass like it or not.

If you're upset because of that then go watch amateur boxing which is way more textbook style of fighing.

And no, Ward shouldn't be criticised cause he doesn't let Kovalev to knock him out in a slugfest. OR if you blame Ward for that then be fair and also blaim Kovalev and similar fighers if they let an other fighter get away from their punches and spoil them.
