There is a big difference between a handshake seconds before a fight and a staredown 30 hours before the fight. Fear isn't so bad. In my first amateur fight I fought a tough looking guy who was shadow boxing and throwing some wicked looking punches. I was scared and nervous. I fought well and I won. With pro boxers I think the staredown means nothing. These guys fight for a living. You can't scare them with a mean face.
Tell that to Michael spinks....arguably the greatest Lt heavy, def top 5
Ward isn't playing. He's got that stern, but unemotional gaze. The scariest kind an opponent can have. Barrera always looks a little nervous for some reason but particularly so here. He transitioned from being still, to nervously chewing gum a few secs in to the stare, to still again once they turned to the cameras. I don't like to read into face-offs much but that was telling.
Are you gonna cry if ward gets knocked out by Barrera ....
