    Klitshcko wants to unify titles

"This is the day of days in my sporting career," said new IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko after his seven round destruction of Chris Byrd Saturday night in Mannheim, Germany. "I am very proud.....the Klitschko Brothers made it again! It doesn't matter if it's one of us or both of us." After 37 months between world champion reigns, Klitschko said he wants to "defend my title and much better, get another one. Let's go for some other belts!" Wladimir's trainer Emanuel Steward said afterward that Klitschko now stands alone at the top of the heavyweight division. "I don't see anyone on the hozizon, even in the amateurs, that's going to beat him," stated Manny. "He can hold this title until he retires."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm disappointed, for sure," said Chris Byrd after the fight. "But, I've still got a lot of boxing in me, I think.....He's 241 pounds of muscle and I'm 212 pounds of bulked-up muscle, not even real muscle. I felt I could go in there and push him around [but] it didn't work out for me

His confidence is back, and that's good for the division. There is no other way to slice it. Someone wanted a guy to drive while the car was sitting still.

I just don't see him unifying the titles any time soon.

You got Rahman vs Maskaev then winner fights Toney.
Valuev is taken and I doubt they will put him against anyone major any time soon.
Liakhovich vs McBribe apparently and then Brewster.

lyko and valuev are very conveniently "tied up" with matchups against ****ty fighters. lyko could say **** off to mcbride and fight klitschko for a ****load of money if he had the same desire that wlad has. rahman has to be absolutely thrilled to have to fight james toney after maskaev.

the only unification fight i see now is wlad vs rahman, it might happen if rahman beats maskaev, toney isnt gonna wait around for rahman maskaev winner, that fight isnt even scheduled, for toney to fight the winner it will take a year. Another good fight would be Klitschko vs Toney, I done see why Toney wouldnt wana fight Wlad, but we all know that Don King is gonna push through Ray Austin as the mandatory for Wlad and hes gonna make sure Lyhovich doesnt loose his belt, and Valuev is gonna keep fighting bums, so that picture isnt very clear right now, it gets interesting from here....

Well Liakhovich has no choice he said he wants to fight the Klitschko brothers, but I don't think Don King is going to let him do this while he has the rights to him for 2 years. I don't know if Klitschko's promoters will come to a conclusion with Don King, probably will be one big mess. I guess Valuev is the closest person Wlad can fight next, it would be another huge fight in Germany.

Don't know if you realized but Chris Byrd made 10 million dollars USD in his fight with Wlad who made 8 million dollars USD. This is Byrd's biggest payday to date.

Well, atleast he can enjoy being champion for a while. He deserves it.

Yeah I have a bit of a hard time believing that Byrd made that much. Especially since it was not on PPV. I can see Byrd making 2.5 million and Wlad about 1.5 million but not more than that.

BTW I do not think Wlad is interested in the WBO belt anymore. I think he has his heart set on the WBC or WBA mostly the WBC because his brother held it and it seems to be the most prestigious one of the bunch. I think the final two belts that Lewis held were the WBC and the IBF (prior to them stripping him of the IBF).
