I thought the same as therealpugilist.
He got to fight cotto at caneloweight so i'd like to know what exactly he 'sacrificed'
As for Mayweather... He is a one of a kind... Best p4p, top of food chain. Alvarez is acting like he beat mayweather - acting like he's now a boss, who uses bullying tactics.
I got nothing against Alvarez at moment, but i ***ing hate bullies or morally wrong behaviour.
P.S *** the boxing fans who are happy to 'let it marinate'

On the last Fight Game, Max said the fight has to happen by Cinco de Mayo weekend 2017. So that tells me the fight likely isn't happening in September.

I completely understand where Canelo is coming from here. I see no reason why GGG can't do what others have done-make concessions to get the big payday-whether he is the mando or not.

          What's the difference?
There's no problem if you can make the weight. But how are you going to whine about giving concessions when your in the ring with a 15 pound weight advantage?

Cotto has been in some of the biggest fights of the past ten years....Mayweather, Pacquaio, Mosley, Margarito...the entire boxing wolrd casuals know cotto .he was far more internationally known than Canelo.

Also he was a more proven fighter, fighting a bigger guy.....what did canelo think, he was gonna get 50/50 or 60/40
your comparing a finished career to a budding one. Like for like (comparing same ages), canelo is miles above cotto. At 23 cotto was still fighting nobodies and was just a prospect. Canelo was already on the global championship scene.

With that said, this is all postering by canelos camp to give him the best opportunity to win. This is one of those fights that could be determined by timing and negotiations.

Its wack, but I get it. When Cotto pulls these stunts his fans label him a negotiation genius. Mexican fighters have not been the most savvy on the business side of things, looks like their finally joining the party....to our dismay.

Its not about the rehydration, it's about what the cut does to your body. When you're in a state of dehydration, a weight loss of only 3% of bodyweight results in a 20% reduction of muscular power and slows reaction times by 30%.

He was not going to beat Mayweather regardless as he was simply sensational, but the weight obviously had an effect.

Cotto also lost most of those fights, lost to Trout and won his belt against a cripple: 60/40 was fair, but he took 80/20 just to get the fight.

                Concessions come in many forms.

As I said in that last post, the weight advantage on the night is rendered virtually insignificant if making the initial weight killed your body. From a state of severe dehydration, it takes 3 days for the body to fully recover. He lost to a better fighter in Mayweather, but the weight played a role in him looking so bad.

Against Cotto, he had the weight advantage as he made 155 easily. However, he still had to make some big Concessions to even get the fight. Nobody is deserving of 80% split against Canelo.

                  Pretty much yeah.

Canelo has fought Mosley, Cotto, Lara, Trout, Mayweathers, and now Khan who is still ranked P4P in the top 30.

Ggg has fought dopey, sleepy, happy, frosty, and Frisky... Ggg ain't getting the $$$$ and the weight. 154 division is STACKED compared to the shty 160.

U have Andrade, both Charlo's, Lara and Trout.

Thurman could easily make 154. So can Brook. So can Porter who was 276-14 as a MW! Have a NICE lil tournament with these guys. Throw Bradley in their as well.

The MW tournament would look like SHT!

Lee, Colonel Saunders, Dwayne Wade??? No TY!!!!

I agree. All the ATG have all made sacrifices on their way up, GGG is no different. Canelo is the biggest name in the sport right now so he's in a position to demand. Floyd made chino wear pillows for gloves, made canelo drop to 152, to name a few. Manny made DLH drain down to 147, fought Margarito at a cw for the jr middleweight title. in order for GGG to break into a bona-fide star power, he most likely will have to do the same to secure the big fights. If I'm GGG, I'd focus my attention to a potential cotto showdown in the summer because the canelo fight is not happening anytime soon

Then drop the belt, you ginger p*ssy. It's crap like this that's killing the sport, and the more that fans stand for it and actually encourage it,the worse it will get. Since when is fighting your mandatory at an official weight class giving up an advantage? So canelo wants to keep the middlewieght belt, call himself a middlweight champ, but doesn't want to fight middleweights at 160? You can't have your cake and eat it too.
