  • Comments Thread For: Canelo Rejects Talk of Khan Being Small, An Easy Title Defense

WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) has rejected the criticisms that he's taking an easy fight by selecting Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) as the opponent for his first defense of the title.

It's not so much him fighting someone "smaller" – Mayweather is roughly the same size as Khan, in WW terms – but that he chose a fighter with one of the worst chins at the highest level. If he doesn't blow Khan out of there by the mid-rounds, then the lineal MW champ will look like a chump.

So now Canelo is saying that Khan who has never fought above welter and against small welters at that is taken as a huge threat .Amir has lost by knockout at lightweight and light welterweight and since Garcia obliterated him has been kept well clear of ****ers. He will have you believe his desperate plea that by moving up in weight against harder hitters will improve his weak chin.......complete cop out by Canelo.

canelo will never reach the level he can unless he gets a new trainer. his current trainer can only take him so far and i believe that road is coming to an end. if canelo wants to improve and get better from here on out, he's gonna have to ditch his current trainer.

We've seen Khan on his back at lower weights, that is why there is this perception.

I think we understand he isn't like way shorter and incapable of reaching Canelo, but we do understand that he has a questionable beard.

People just want to see Canelo be a real middleweight.

He's been fighting Welterweights at Jr. Middleweight, and now he's the full MW champ and he's still fighting welterweights.

The time has come for him to move up the scale and quit using weight as a negotiation tactic for every single fight.

              Actually BE the Middleweight Champion.
