it is good to remember that wladimir's strategy was to purposely not throw much heat in that fight. imagine if he starting launching that offensive beatdown we saw yesterday on peter in the mid rounds. peter might've tasted the canvas at the very least.
Did Klitschko pass the test?

I think to be honest that as long as Wlad trained properly for the fight then it was always gonna be his. It wasn't really that much of a challenge. After watching the first fight I just couldnt see any way that Byrd could win, the gap in size, handspeed, power, skill and practically everything was just too large for Byrd to overcome. The main question mark was over Wlads chin and Byrd just doesnt have the power at HW to make this a big factor.
IMO Wlad will still struggle against big punchers who can exert pressure on him and keep up a high pace. However the work that Manny Steward has done with Wlad has worked wonders and will probably mean that he will deal much better than he did before. I've seen some people criticise Wlads holding tactics but I think Wlad needs to fight this way. He's best on the outside utilising his handspeed, reach and jab. When he's on the inside he's vulnerable to big shots and doesnt look comfortable trading at all so for him to clinch when an oppponent is inside and looking dangerous just makes sense for him... and I dont think he does it excessively like Ruiz.Last edited by TheHoff!; 04-23-2006, 05:17 PM.Comment

....If they ever rematched I think you would see just that. Wlad was carefull in that fight to a fault. He knows he can take Peter's punch now and he also knows that Peter "can" be hurt. The best part is that Peter knows that Wlad can hurt him too. I think Wlad would win that rematch in dramatic KO fashion. That's a fight that Peter would be wise to duck if the opportunity arises again. However, I have this funny feeling that they will meet again for a lot bigger stakes then they fought for the first time.Comment

Rocky Marciano's boxing skills were on par with Sam Peter's, in other words they are both useless! But the fact is Marciano trained to fight for 15 rounds. If you look at any of his tapes you will see Marciano windmilling knockout punches by the hundreds. Peter on the other hand trains for 4 rounds, and throws arm punches most of the time. Perhaps that fat African ought to pay more attention to his roadwork before he tries to get another fight with Klitschko.Comment
