Gays don't go out rioting and looting in substantial numbers, so I agree with you on this.

Being black and being gay aren't comparable. I don't have a choice whether I'm black or not. You have a choice whether you wanna live an openly gay lifestyle. People claim they are born gay. I disagree. But whether you're born gay or not. You do have a choice on living the lifestyle openly or not. Gay isn't the norm. So when you choose to openly live an alternative lifestyle, don't b1tch and moan about folks openly objecting to it.

I'm still relatively young (34.) So people living openly gay has been apart of the society I've lived in for most of my life. The biggest difference I see now, opposed to when I was growing up. Is that growing up, gays wanted acceptance and to be treated as equals. And there's where you can draw a parallel with blacks. Everybody deserves equal opportunities. But the differnce in gays now is that now that they've pretty much been accepted, they want more. They almost wanna be applauded for choosing to openly live the lifestyle. And that's where they irritate the hell outta me. There's absolutely nothing noble about choosing to live openly gay.

yes they are. race and sexuality are social constructs. they are only issues becaue we make them issues. we can also choose to make them non issues if we would like but that requires fighting back against thousands of years of cultural hegemony. the bible was also used to support discrimination in both cases: slavery and gay rights.

you think people choose to be gay? seriously? gay people in every culture since the beginning of man kind and in thousands of animal species but its all a conspiracy right? they all just had the same idea to make straight people mad lol.

so in other words you have a choice whether to be yourself or to pretend to be someone else just so society accepts you? yea i would prefer people be themselves. its called freedom. why do you hate freedom? also lots of things aren't the norm. black people, ******s, liking andre ward. those non-normal things sholdn't be attacked simply for being different. your way of thinking really reinforces white hegemony and their "traditional values" aka how society was constructed in order to favor them and its kinda sad because you are black and should be able to see how they treated you and still treat you differenly simply for not fitting into their mold. you are using the same system that was created to oppress you to now oppress someone else. thats how powerful a system it is and instead of rallying against the system you are ralling against another oppressed group just so you can "fit into" the system that doesn't even accept you.

no they haven't. in the majority of states you can still be legally discriminated against for being gay. things such as denied services, denied housing, fired/not hired. things like that so you should inform yourself better about the issues. they don't want more. they want the same.

yes there is. they know they will face discrimination and yet they choose to do it so that future people won't have to hide and face the same discrimination that they faced.
