Tony Bellew (26-2-1, 16 KOs) will fight for a world title in early summer.
The Liverpool cruiserweight, who is an avid Evertonian, will get a shot at the WBC title.
Bellew, 33, has been handed his chance on the back of the injured champion, Grigory Drozd (40-1, 28 KOs), being made champion in recess and the Mexican-based outfit sanctioning a clash with Ilunga Makabu (19-1, 18 KOs) the man who Drozd was set to face on April 8 in Moscow for the vacant crown.
