Comments Thread For: David Lemieux is '50-50' For Canelo-Khan Card, Says Manager

It was a tumultuous weekend for Camille Estephan, who had to deal with the situation surrounding David Lemieux (34-3, 31KOs), who failed to make weight for his fight against James De La Rosa and eventually had this fight scrapped. There had been plans to feature the former IBF middleweight titlist on the Saul Alvarez-Amir Khan pay-per-view undercard on May 7th in Las Vegas.

Did he deliberately miss weight so that he could support the crap card in May?

Not saying that it was intentional but I bet when David Lemieux and his team saw that Lucas was off the Canelo under card as the co main event I bet he was like let me sacrifice this fight to possibly get a better fight as well as more exposure.

I don't think for a second that he intentionally missed weight but I honestly haven't seen anything great from him, ever, and don't think he'll have much success at any weight at this point. His claim to fame is being GGG food and he was utterly humiliated in that fight.

for what i've been reading on twitter they say heiland might be a candidate to face him on may 7. also that the winner might be canelo's next opponent.

Stop saying things you know nothing about. The real story is that his New diet guy used a different dehydratation method, using a 2 day drastic dehydratation period. Lemieux's organism simply couldn't took it. On thursday night he didn't feel good at all so they had to stop the cycle. On friday morning, everybody knew he could'nt make the weight. They added 2 pounds but couldn't get any lower than 165.6.... that sucks. They should 've try this kind of method before. He was not used to that at all, usually starting his cycle 2 weeks before the weigh in .

I had a weird/random dream last night that he lost de De La Rosa fight and seeing news/threads talking questioning how good he truly was and whatnot. ****ing weird.

Anyways, I'd love to see him in the card of Canelo-Khan, it would make it that much more attractive. Lemieux is a very entertaining fight.

I dont know if gspm23 has "inside info" but this sounds very plausible.

I didnt know that Lemieux had a new nutrition guy but if he's changed his weight cut protocol without giving it a try first it would have been very easy to come in that heavy.
