I've heard a lot of people calling Tyson Fury a gypsy as if it's a slur or bad being a gypsy? Not all gypsies live in caravans and they are not criminals like most people believe. They are the nicest people you can ever meet. So, why the negative stereotypes? SO WHAT IF FURY IS GYPSY!?

Tyson Fury is a gypsy. Why is that bad?

Most peoples experiences with gypsies are with the ones that park up in a field overnight, steal everything in the surrounding area and leave bags of **** all over when the police finally move them on.

No one who has had to deal with gypsies on more than one occasion would call them the nicest people you could ever meet.
Sure i've known some decent gypsies but i wouldn't want one as a neighbour.

Tyson Fury embraces his Gypsy/Traveler heritage.
But Gypsies are looked down on in Europe, they have a negative view of them as swindlers, fortune tellers, those who practice black magic, con artists, the ones who steal little children, and tons of other unsavory views about them.
Centuries ago they would have gypsies who traveled into towns and people claimed they would steal kids and other things and use gypsy black magic.

Reminds me of when i was in high school. My dad was a part-time bounty hunter when he was working highway patrol. I ran with that and bragged about it because it sounded cool to be the son of a bounty hunter. It didn't make me cool and Tyson's claims of being an Irish gypsy (when he grew up in Manchester) don't add any cred w/ me. It just sounds like he's trying too hard to build mystique.
He grew up on a gypsy traveller site in manchester. I'm guessing you're American judging by some of your terminology so maybe you should do a bit more research on the subject
Fury isn't using it to sound cool, he is from an Irish traveller/gypsy family and grew up in that lifestyle. Some gypsy sites are in big cities like Manchester but they still live outside of everyday society and see everyone else as outsiders. They don't really mix with outsiders, don't marry outside of their own people and have totally different values and way of living. They are actually protected under the racial discrimination act in the UK and come under a lot of discrimination due to their bad reputation.
Fury is just speaking about what he is. He is a gypsy/irish traveller born in England. Just go look on any articles about him on facebook or newspaper websites in the UK, look at the comments sections underneath and look how much abuse he gets because of his background.
A bit different to bragging that your dad was a "highway patrol man" or whatever haha.
