Arum: Terence Crawford next fight is on HBO PPV

So Provodnikov (25-4, 18 KOs), who will make his Showtime debut against John Molina Jr. on June 11, is no longer a consideration for Crawford’s next fight. On Monday, Arum told ESPN.com that while July 23 remains the date for Crawford’s next fight, the site could change and, more significantly, he will fight on HBO PPV, not regular HBO.

“We’re definitely going July 23 but we’re not sure if it will be still be at the Forum, but that’s one of the places we’re considering,” Arum said. “It depends on the opponent but we may go to Omaha (Nebraska, Crawford’s hometown). It may go to Las Vegas, maybe in the new (T-Mobile Arena). But we are doing a pay-per-view card around Crawford.”

That is quite the change of plans but Arum said “it has to do with budgets and so forth. HBO is going to do a lot of its fights on pay-per-view.”
With brawler Ruslan Provodnikov our of the picture, junior welterweight titlist Terence Crawford was left looking for an opponent for his next fight.

There's no PPV fight for Crawford. Pacquiao will retire, Bradley and Crawford said they won't fight each other, and all the other big names are with Haymon.

Postol vs Crawford isn't a PPV fight.

Regardless of who he fights, the card will have to be absolutely loaded to even get close to 100k buys.

        Something like this maybe:

        Crawford vs Postol
        Vargas vs Benavidez
        Verdejo vs Linares
        Granados vs Orozco

You all are missing the real take-away here. This is less about Crawford and more about what Arum said about budgets and "HBO is going to do a lot of it's fights on Pay Per View."

That's very, very interesting. Wonder how HBO plans to do this heavier PPV schedule and if there will be a lower average price.

I can see him fighting Marquez in a PPV fight, but Marquez isn't even a PPV draw himself.

HBO is off their rocker then, I won't pay for any of these PPV's, not a damn one.

Can only be Postol or Broner. Not sure there is anything even arguably PPV-ish. Any other opponent should make GGG vs Lemieux look like Floyd vs Manny.

Also wtf with HBO throwing so much on PPV. HBO Boxing's demise might be closer than I think. The UFC's deal with Fox ends in 2018. I suspect HBO will flip to MMA sooner or later. If this exodus to HBO PPV continues I wouldn't be surprised if HBO get involved in the bidding for UFC when that deal is up. Probably smart of Lampley to call his show Fight Game & not something with boxing in the title.

damn poor HBO. I wouldn't mind Crawford vs Broner on ppv though.
