besides the KO, the 4th Marquez fight was the last time manny looked really good tbh.

Very true. If he didn't lose the way he did I feel as though many more people would credit that fight as the last time Manny actually looked very impressive.

In terms of knockouts/stoppages, obviously Roach is right in saying it ain't been the same since Hatton, but Manny has been pretty formidable a few times since then in fairness.

Manny couldn't stop Chris Algieri, couldn't knock down Brandon Rios. To me, that's not looking good when it's Manny we're talking about here - the guy that made Margacheato's face look like ground beef and stopped Cotto in the 12th.

It definitely doesn't look good when pillow-fisted Bradley can drop Rios with a body shot yet Manny can't.

All these folks talking about how past-it Manny is are full of ****. No 37yr old is what he was physically in his physical prime. But during all of this "decline" Manny has still pretty much outclassed top competition. With the exception of a guy in JMM that has always given him a tough time. And a guy in Floyd who's just a better fighter. Manny is still arguably the best welterweight in the world. And arguably still one of the top 10 P4P fighters on ths planet. If that's washed up, we should all be so blessed.

Went the distance with Brandon Rios.

Lost to Timothy Bradley. ("No matter how...you...cut it, slice it or dice it.")
Got one-punch knocked out by Marquez.

And no, I don't agree he's the best welter in the world. How can you be when there are 6 - possibly 8 - ways to beat you?

Top 10? Absolutely.

Past his prime? Considering how Floyd domesticated him which simply should not have happened, I would argue he's pretty close. Manny didn't show up and we don't know why beyond the excuses. Old day Manny wouldn't make up excuses for getting schooled - because he wouldn't have gotten schooled in the first place.

I'm a Floyd fan but let's be realistic. The Manny that showed up against Mosley would have beaten Floyd via SD.

Pacquiao was never the same after the Cotto fight. In part, I attribute that to the damage he sustained throughout it, but I also don't ignore Ariza's eventual departure. We all know why Ariza leaving is significant, even Roach does, unfortunately.

Floyd was always going to be a horrible style matchup for Pac, only Roach and pacfans really thought he had much of a chance. Even Arum knew what was up.

Freddie Roach is right but I don't think he should be saying this before a fight. He's essentially boosting Bradley's resolve by strengthening the belief that a weakness is there to be found. I get the impression that Roach is trying to distance himself for when the wheels fall of the once lucrative gravy train.

Roach telling what we know for years, an offensive speed-brawler like Manny is years past his best. But he is still good enough to beat guys like Bradley. It is still a shame that Pac vs. Floyd did not happen 5 years earlier.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao would have been the same fight 5 years ago. It would have probably been more one sided as Mayweather was more fluid on the back foot, had better timing, and greater accuracy.

I don't see this drop-off in Pac at all, other than in his punch output, and the fact that he looks fatigued at the end of his fights now.

All this " been done since Margarito " stuff is just fan talk I think.

He looked real sharp against Mosley..... oh, until Shane decided to move.

In the fights with Marquez he had the same problems hes always had.

In the Bradley fights he either looked good, or he didn't, depending on what Tim was doing.

And the common problem in all of those fights, was badly exposed for the whole world to see against Mayweather, but they were always there.

Other than his punch output, I don't see this significant drop-off at all.

He looked great against Rios and Algieri, because they were available, just like Margarito.
