Comments Thread For: Atlas Doesn't Expect Supposed Distractions To Affect Pacquiao

As Manny Pacquiao begins the second stage of his training camp in the United States, the boxer will reportedly be more distracted than ever.

With an important senatorial election looming in the aftermath of his third fight against Timothy Bradley, Pacquiao is rumored to have had a troublesome training camp thus far in the Philippines. He'll train for slightly more than three weeks at Freddie Roach's Wild Card Boxing Club in West Hollywood, California, before leaving for Las Vegas, where he'll battle Bradley (33-1-1, 13 KOs, 1 NC) on April 9 at MGM Grand (HBO Pay-Per-View).

pac shouldnt be ont he p4p list anymore imo..show something new or drop off..if rigo beat doniare 3 times i dont think there would be much fuss...
pac is great, but at the end of the day it is coming to an end and he's picking his battles easy..there is nothin p4p about that

him and floyd should be off teh list unless they sign long term contracts again.

Teddy Atlas is spot on, Floyd and Manny are pretty similar in that aspect of distractions, they do not get distracted and thrive off of having huge entourages stroke their ego. They are similar in that aspect.

To me the only issue is motivation, it is clear as day that Pac is only fighting for a check and to honor his contract with Arum, Floyd said he tried to start a training camp again to see if he could get that motivation to fight again and he said he couldn't do it so he is remaining retired right now, once a fighter loses that desire its time to hang them up.

Right now Bradley is far more motivated than Pacquiao. Bradley actually got amped up from Atlas and it worked, thats why Atlas and Bradley are a dangerous combo, you got a guy who gets motivated by his coaches pep talk, while on the other hand you have a guy who is just going the rounds and doesn't really obey Roaches commands anymore.

Doesn't matter, Pacquiao is just going through the motions and has been doing just that for nearly 5-years now. Pretty much since the first Bradley fight.

It must be a jarring experience for anyone who doesn't have these guys personalities to be that level of famous. Could you imagine trying to take a shhh with a hundred dudes outside the stall trying to get an autograph. Fame is a biznatch if you aren't built for it.
