Comments Thread For: K. Porter on Keith Thurman Delay: It's a Positive For Us

BoxingScene.com caught up with Kenny Porter on March 11th, the day before his son Shawn (26-1-1, 16KOs) would face Lanardo Tyner in an exhibition match.

The younger Porter was supposed to face Keith Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) in a highly anticipated fight instead of the exhibition bout on this day but the fight was delayed when Thurman was involved in an automobile accident.

I have a lot of admiration for Shawn Porter and fighters should look at him as an example that a loss isnt the end...guy bounced back and is right bk up there in the mix. Theres upside in losing to another good fighter and most take off TOO MUCH time after defeat instead of staying active and sharp. Like this right here, its a good fight between 2 top contenders and is long overdue, shouldve happened a yr or 2 ago and whoever lost couldve been right bk in the mix with the right fights. Thats what i dont inderstand with all the top WWs tip toeing around each other.

It must suck to train hard & not get the gratification of fighting. I can understands Porters team wanting at least an exhibition although idk how thatll work. To bad nobody stepped up after Thurmans accident. Porter has a style that needs to stay fighting, a delay benefits Thurman.

He'll have an accident in June when Porter steamrolls him into a wall. Anything can happen obviously, but I think Thurman will be surprised and overwhelmed. IMO he isn't the boogie man alotta fans say he is.
