over money i'm sure. cotto's career is over and he knows that, and gaby having time and grade with cotto was being paid handsomely i'm willing to bet. this is a money saving move.

Dan Rafael said it was rumored to be about the GGG step-aside money and being stripped of the belt. If that's the case, then I'm assuming Cotto must not have been aware of something in the contracts, and thus he fired Penagaricano. It's a long-time relationship, unfortunately, but if Cotto can't trust his people to make the deals the way he wants them to, then this is the obvious result.

Wow I always assumed it was Roc Nation that dropped the ball on that. Either way someone wasn't giving good info to Cotto on that.

ggg emptied cotto's cowardly pockets. love it! cotto tried to do some fancy pants legal manuever so he could keep the belt and not fight ggg but got exposed and lost all that money. best part is cotto can't even do anything about it because he can't fight ggg and get his respect back. he just has to hang his head and accept he lost millions to a guy he was scared of.

Can't say I'm disappointed to read this. Every time I've seen an interview with Penagaricano, he seems like everyone wrong with boxing negotiations. Seemed like a petty, ultimatum-giving nightmare to negotiate with.
