real talk doe, could Golovkin really do 154-168 fights?

He & Abel in an interview (ESnews & Dontae) mentioned the ease of 154-168 before Mayweather was in the picture, circa 2013 & at the Big Bear training camp.

Has Kovalev ever mentioned how easy it is to do 168 or 200?

In the last two years the whole boxing world was talking about 154-168 in light of Golovkin, regardless that he represents 160.

However, Abel told the world that Golovkin would come down to fight Money May at 154. What boxer wouldn't want to box Floyd for the money and highlight?

So now, given all those circumstance and with Ring Magazine writing articles from what all was said. Isn't possible that Golden Boy is shoving the 155 lb - before the Khan circumstance - that if Loeffler wants the Lineal belt from Alvarez then Golovkin would have to agree to the 154-168 scenario being easy? Why haven't we heard middle ground from Loeffler or Sanchez at 157 or 158?

How many people believe that Alvarez vs Golovkin will actually happen at 160?

    No, he couldn't.

Would have done it already if he could.

So what is the benefit of stating such claim?. Or perhaps it's just one of those overconfident things that bite back? Or they just really weren't serious?

It just depends on who the opponent is, and if he could beat them comfortably. For example there was a thread saying GGG was already preparing to drop to 154 in case Floyd picked him (prior to Floyd picking Manny.) And GGG was ready to go to 168 to fight JCC. But GGG was not willing to go to 168 to fight Ward, and is not willing to go to 155 to fight Canelo (because he most likely loses those fights.)

So it's really just pick and chose for his team and his fans. It's a joke, not worth discussing further, really

He certainly CAN, but I don't think he's going to enjoy the same kind of cozy competition he's had. Couple that with not being at his ideal weight and he's not going to be a top dog at 154 or 168. As much as I'd like to see him seek out greatness by fighting in other classes, I'm be honest and say I don't think he'll pull it off. If he did, he'd get mad respect in my book. Even for trying.

The benefit of stating it would generate interest of potential mega fights that otherwise very few would talk about. conversations like Floyd and Froch became possible, unfortunately at 154 and 168 we won't see the best GGG. his Ideal fighting weight would be 160, he would be very good at 168 but give up major size advantages and at 154 he would have a size advantage but likely be drained and would only want to fight Floyd (seems to be the case).
