I went to a boxing gym from 10-19, learned a lot but didn't have the drive or the higher skills to go professional, went the academic route and love how everything turned, All Praise to Allah
What about you, Larrry...you ever been to a gym? You seem more of a book reading, stay at home husband type...no offense -

I train at home now, with my own equipment (heavy bag, speed bags, double end, etc, etc), because I'm mostly interested in just staying in shape. But, I used to train at a boxing gym with 1 on 1 coaching, sparring, etc not too long ago. It's just hard for me to focus on both competition and my home business. I'm OCD and when I train with competition in mind I tend to get too obsessed and neglect my work.
The wife wants me to get back to training at the gym. I'm just juggling too many things.Comment

I started boxing when I was 15 and kept at it right until I was 20. I let girlfriend and work occupy most of my time and stop going.
I just started back in Jaunary with my little brother. We work out together and I show him a thing or 2 when the coaches are busy.Comment

I went a few times about a decade ago when I was 19. The first day I had to take a break to go throw up. Still came back and finished it up a minute later. Took a lot of pride in that. However within like the first two weeks after I hit a hard part of a new heavy bag and messed up a knuckle which never healed right. Still to this day my knuckle will swell like crazy and hurt if I through a few lefts at a bag. Probably a good thing as I doubt I really had the skill or drive to be good enough where I could ever box full time and never would have gotten a real job.Comment

I boxed as an amateur for a couple of years, before moving into martial arts. I used to call in to the gym all the time to keep in shape. Had so many great times with the manager, who was the son of Henry Coopers chief sparring partner and a good fighter in his day. I'm 45 now, so I tend to use a home gym.Comment

I had an amateur career from 18-23 (although had an 8 month break when I did some traveling when I turned 21)
Fought 24 times and then progressed towards a career (am just about 26 now)
I'd recommend boxing to anyone
It changed my life for the betterComment

Well, you see,,,you let the pu$$y control you and affect your career. Women will never be happy until you're living your life on her terms, but you need to control your own destiny. Like Patrice O Neal said, "A happy woman equals an unhappy man".Comment
