Atlas's history as a trainer is that he puts himself first before his fighter. He even rationalized it when he left Povetkin to train himself before a fight.

To be fair to Atlas, it's actually that he's loyal to his commitments above all else and if someone makes a commitment with him and breaks it in any way he's not forgiving at all. He told Povetkin's team from the start that when he was doing work for ESPN FnF, Povetkin had to come train over in America, and when it was the offseason for ESPN FnF he'd train Povetkin in Russia. After Povetkin won a title with Atlas, Atlas said that Povetkin's people changed the terms of the deal without notice and wanted Atlas to come to Russia during his ESPN time. Atlas refused and the relationship went downhill from there.

My answer to that is Emmanuel Stewart. Trained more fighters than Atlas and was an analyst at HBO at the same time. We never heard any of this BS with his fighters. But with Atlas, there's always some story and he seems to always exonerate himself. It's clearly an ego thing with him, which is probably why he's not on the level as Roach & Stewart.
I agree that Freddie vs Teddy would probably get more buys and more anticipation that Pac vs Bradley III but come on now, the only way it would be fair with Freddie's Parkinson's is if he were allowed to have loaded wraps.

That's nice for Steward but not everyone has the ability to work in that manner. Steward also had a lot more help at the Kronk Gym and other gyms(though he did train multiple fighters as you said so it probably evens out). Atlas does have a big ego and I'm sure that factors in. However, I do believe if Povetkin's team had kept their end of the agreement, Atlas would have kept training him. He just doesn't bend at all even if circumstances change, and given that Povetkin had the "championship clout" he didn't want to have to train outside of Russia anymore.
Atlas has been historically not a fan of Roach either, which is where a lot of this stuff stems from I think. Roach trained Michael Moorer after he and Atlas split under poor circumstances(and with Roach, Moorer got beat up and stopped by Holyfield and retired for a time). Atlas has also made critical comments in the past about Roach dropping his corner duties at times for certain fighters due to having too many fighters to train. So there's no love lost there. I do think Atlas does play up things in the corner for the cameras as Roach says(which again, ego). I disagree strongly that Atlas gives poor corner advice.
