Nothing is official yet, but i've heard a couple of things
A proposed fight with 130lb kingpin Uchiyama and Walters was on the table for Uchiyama's US debut. This obviously all fell apart, but i'm not really sure why. I think Arum preferred the Loma bout. My initial thought was the WBA wouldn't sanction the fight (Walters hasn't officially won at 130), but he's currently ranked no.2.
There were lots of rumours about a fight with the WBA regular titleholder Fortuna. Current reports suggest Fortuna wanted 350k to travel to Japan (a lot more than what he was paid in his last fight), and that any offers for a Vegas fight between the two weren't any good, at least according to Watanabe. I have also heard that the fight is still on the table and nearly signed, however I can't confirm that and it may just be rumour. The WBA were supposed to call purse bids for the fight, but Watanabe may get around it.
WBA interim titleholder Jezreel Corrales seems to be the hot favourite for the title shot. Its unfortunate as the guy hasn't fought a live body, and it probably means Uchiyama will have his next fight in Japan on New Years, so it may be another 'bum'. This is supposed to be part of a triple header in Japan on April 27th, with Taguchi and Kono also appearing on the card.
