I have always considered it to be fascinating that promoter A is willing to work with any other promoter to make any fight when promoter A has a prospect (Ortiz) they are trying to build. However, when promoter A has a champion (Canelo Alvarez), he suddenly wants to be selective in who his champion fights and when.

Luis Ortiz is a 36-year old, southpaw heavyweight with pop, who fights for a promoter that is currently left with a single bankable star ('Canelo' Alvarez).

Desperation breeds a willingness for cooperation; just ask Bob Arum. Golden Boy sees that all of the heavyweight titles are out of their control (Wilder/Joshua are with Haymon, and the Fury-Klitschko II winner either being loyal to BoxNation in the UK [Fury] or RTL in Germany [Klitschko]), HBO has been hinting at being willing to put some of the budget behind Ortiz, and Ortiz's age ("36") throwing doubt on how much of his window is still left.

At this point, there's no point in being protective with Ortiz; Saul Alvarez, on the cusp of entering into his prime physical years(generally 27-30) and a solid 8-10 years as a bankable draw, is being handled far more carefully.

You must work for Oscar De La Hoya because you are doing a great job of spltting hairs. Oscar hasn't refused to work with GGG's promoter nor has he refused to put Alvarez in the ring with GGG. Oscar has simply said that he wants to delay a fight that has already been ordered and agreed upon.

It has nothing to do with age or bankable years. No one knows how many bankable years a fighter has. Marquez was still fighting at age 41. Hopkins is still fighting at age 50. Mayweather fought for eight more years after he beat Oscar De La Hoya in 2007 when he was already past his prime and made 100 times more money after he fought De La Hoya than he did before. Other fighters retired before age 30.

Oscar is trying to build Ortiz and protect Alvarez, In spite of what you think, there is something wrong with protecting fights.

Golden Boy works with all to make big time fights. However this is going to be by far the biggest challenge. Because all of the heavyweights outside of Fury and Wladimir are with Haymon. Not really sure who Parker is with maybe he's a possible.

Most logical is the winner of he Fury vs Wladimir rematch because both fighters have a huge backing from HBO. So Golden Boy is going to have to get creative and hope that HBO brings a lot of money to back them.

Ortiz has a mandatory next. Then after that fight they will hopefully score a Top 5 Heavyweight
