That persona wasn't trademarked by Floyd at all lol. Boxing has always had big talkers. Naseem was quite the sh it head and he is modern enough where even younger peeps should have seen him. It actually backfired on Floyd because he's got no charisma and people just don't like him. Kind of tragic, really.

Anyhow, no Diaz is not a Lara type of talent in his sport lol. That would be like Angulo or Kirkland outboxing Mayweather. Diaz outboxed McGregor at the end into a desperation take down. Conor got beat at his own game then choked out by a guy on 11 days notice...by a 155 pounder (the division he was moving up to).

I like McGregor, he's infinitely more charismatic than Floyd could ever be and he's quick with the talking unlike Mayweather who's like really socially awkward and couldnt talk his way into or out of anything. But..Mayweather is legitimately an amazing atg caliber type fighter. A genius in the ring... Mcgregor is very good but there are levels to greatness. Props for him taking a fight at 170 (even if its against a 155 pounder) and trying to be great by getting a hold of rda.

Still...a fighter of that caliber and charisma/mouth shouldn't be tapping so fast. I couldnt see Floyd taking a knee hurt or calling it quits. Holly Holm didn't tap and had to be put to sleep.

He'll be back headlining UFC 200 against Frankie Edgar. He'll be fine. But he has to win that fight.

Odds closed higher, like 5/1, as many people put money on McGregor. Lots of *******s clenched up tight when Nate Diaz got that chokehold.

Lol @ it being like fighting Lara.

I think the problem is that UFC builds stars without them really proving anything.

I think they need these hypejob stars to keep it going. Boxing has a rich history so it will always be ok but UFC is fairly new as a sport in relation to other sports, so they need these big hyped kind of fighters to keep it in the public eye and it works. There's a crazy amount of casual UFC fans. Soon enough McGregor and Rousey will be yesterdays news and they will have new hypejobs to carry the sport and keep it popular and the cycle will continue.

Boxing has it's fair share of hype jobs of course, but the sport doesn't rely on them to carry the sport. That's the difference. So McGregor won't be the last hype job in UFC to be exposed, it will be a frequent thing i think.

Edit: i shouldn't say McGregor or Rousey were exposed, they were beating by legit good fighters, no shame in that, but you get the point.

The better math equivalency would be Floyd going up to 168 to fight a guy there.

                      He'll be fine.

He'll return to 145 and 155 and be the fighter he's been since arriving in UFC. The weight took a toll on his stamina and he paid for it, just got to take the lessons from it; he fought a ****y fight, fight smart as opposed to looking for a highlight reel finish with every shot.
