Because fighters coming out of the amateurs typically fight journeymen and outright bums, not world class fighters. Young fighters spend years gaining experience against crap and average pros before they fight the best. Even exceptional amateurs like Rigondeaux and Lomachenko.

pac fought pros when he was just 16 years old....16 years old! and you did not raise a voice because, in your words, he was just fighting journeymen or bums....

it is high time you review pac's fight history...who he has fought and at what age...

I can understand the allure of being an Olympic gold medalist or just an Olympian, but the pro boxing champion who re-amateurs their boxing career & wins a gold medal at the Olympics is gonna be more of a punchline to the problems of boxing/AIBA than anything else so I hope Manny doesn't do it.

No, there is only a "wow" if the competition is fair. One amateur beating a bunch of other amateurs for a gold medal is "wow." And even then, such as with the best amateurs that fight in the Olympic into their mid-20s, the respect they get and deserve diminishes because their experience and age makes it somewhat unfair when they beat up on kids with 1/4 their experience.

So there's definitely nothing special or noteworthy about world class fighters beating on those same amateurs. There's only shame that a championship level fighter would stoop so low.

now let us look at this scenario that you most likely will say is very highly unlikely to happen...

what now if an am beat a pro? is that not a very big WOW?

then, turning around, if you have a very young boxer going pro and making it big, is it not a very big WOW?

what i am trying to say is boxing is like a box full of surprises...

Not sure why an accomplished pro who's about to retire would want to compete in an amateur event, especially boxing. I thought it was bs when they did it in basketball too, though the competitors from other countries were supposed to be "pros".

They are pros.

what you have above appears to be against repeat olympics attendance by a player...or fighter....

but the fact that repeat appearances in olympics is allowed tend more to indicate that the committee do not see something wrong with the practice...at any rate, countries are to send their best athletes to the games....

i know all about manny's story coming up. i think there's like 20 documentary out about it so how can i miss it.

pac was invited....i repeat, invited ...to represent his country once pros are allowed..

you mean it is better that pac replied to the invitation that he could not be fighting lowly amateurs that are way below his level? that he will say that he is not interested though he is?
