If Manny is allowed to compete, basically every Olympic medalist from the last 10+ years can now return to amateur rules while being pros. It's not like they just decided manny is special so he gets to compete...

What if they got Crawford in America or Canelo for Mexico (weight a second). I could see Manny losing. Then I'd literally die of laughter.

They can, but why would they? It's not like they'll make money in the Olympics that they can't as pros. They'll make less money and put their pro careers on hold, and probably regress fighting amateurs again. The only fighters I can see wanting to do this are guys about to retire, which is why Wlad and Pac have talked about it.

We're sure as hell not going to see an influx of pro fighters heading into the Olympics to compete against other pros. If they won't fight each other for millions, why would they fight each other there?

As old as he is, Pac is still 50x the fighter any of these amateurs are. He has fought the best of the best for the better part of 20 years. No amateur would have any clue what to do with Manny ****ing Pacquiao. His speed and skill is completely unmanageable for them.

It's really unfair. If any pro does this, they deserve no credit for it.
didnt know about the 'no headgear' issue. I think we'll see in Bradley fight if Pac still has his speed. Not even defending Pac, I wish dude retired already.

I think exactly the opposite. We're going to see the less established Olympic boxing powers field teams of entirely middling names we've seen once or twice before. You don't think the Clotteys will jump to represent Ghana, all the Thai professionals will show up, eastern euros who didn't quite have the stuff for the pros will show up. It's gonna be awesome.

This is all dependent on Manny getting an exemption from qualifying obviously.

...Why not, at least pros can't duck and ask for catch weight, make it happen!

Nothing about pro boxers in the Olympics is good or right, and anyone who actually participates should be ashamed.
so you mean usa winning games using pros in the olympics is a disgrace?

pros joining the olympics will benefit the games as amateurs will get the experience of playing on a higher level...is this bad for the sports?

He's a pro fighter, a legend, HOF, ATG, wanting to compete in the olympic against AM fighters. dude there is no defending this. just drop it. he should of thought about this 9-10 years ago. the dude has been getting away with far too many things like drafting himself into the philipine basketball team, etc. and he suck at it too. if this was anyone else at this age talking about doing this, u would **** all over it. im a pac fan and even im not touching this one. this is pure ****** lol.
