    Where's the Heart?

Some recent fights come to mind where one of BOTH guys were not willing to engage out of fear, I can only presume- Frampton-Quigg(most of the fight), Fury-Klitschko, Saunders-Lee(other than the 3rd round), Lee-Quillen(some action but a lot of trying to wait on the other guy to make a mistake while posing at one another).

I mean, I get that each guy wants to outsmart the other and doesn't want to get caught, but hell, learn how to close the gap and push forward in the smart way without sticking your neck out. Heck, you have to go for it sometimes. This attitude is turning out fights that are just plain boring. I don't see this from all fighters, but I think the trend is on the rise.

Overall, I think these guys are only hurting their own reputations in the long run. The best and greatest fighters always had the stones to go after the other guy in there, especially in a big fight situation.

I give credit to Terrence Crawford. He will definitely not hesitate to fight. He gets in there and gets down to business.

That's true. I think GGG has a mean streak as well. He seems to be determined to knock his opponent out. Kovalev seems on another psychopathic level. Haha

Get in there and scrap and you'll understand that sometimes the openings are just not there, sometimes you get shut down every time you go to throw. It's not as simple as you want to make it out to be and the people who question a boxer's heart are usually pretty gutless themselves.

Yea, it sucks to see as a fan but it's not a new thing by any means. It's as old as the sport. Understand that it's usually a matter of strategy more than it is heart.

It may not even be about heart, but I don't know. You have to go for it sometimes though. I think it is definitely a modern phenomenon. It may be as old as boxing itself, but I think it's happening more these days than ever. Guys don't want to take chances.

Level of opposition. Watch Crawford when he fought Prescott and Klimov. One being a bigger fighter that can **** and the other being a defensive guy that didn't give a lot of openings.

Regardless, when two elite fighters are in the ring it becomes a chess match. It becomes more difficult to set traps, create openings and launch an attack.
