Ah thanks for clearing this up! I knew there was a rule for champions fighting away from their home country but couldn't remember if the WBC had it in place or not. Do you know if the IBF/WBA has a similar rule like the WBO?

As far as I know, it's only the WBO who have this rule.

Out of all of them, the WBC actually gives a fairer shake for the challenger. The WBA/WBO/IBF operate a 75/25 split, with the IBF notoriously lenient in changing it in favour of the champion (recent examples include Klitschko/Pulev and Froch-Groves 2)
