How can Rigo think this is a low offer?
No network wants him. He should take what he can.

seems like the fight would be made if arum/HBO just coughed up an extra $250k. a $1.5m purse split down the middle sounds completely fair and reasonable to me. loma may have a little more upside than rigo, but since rigo is taking the bulk of the risk that makes things even imo

You actually believe Top Rank will allow Roc Nation to promote Loma vs Rigo?

I wouldn't be surprised if Roc Nation actually makes an offer for Vasil vs Rigo and pay the fighters much better than Arum only to have Arum reject it.

Face it, when you're a fighter and you have the ego of a fighter that has never been second in his sport and he's been doing it 25 years and you've received purses to fight lesser guys than Vasil with lesser promotion and you've gotten paid better and now you're asked to move up and face Vasil Lomachenko and get paid less. Forget about your own bias and try to make sense of this.

Rigo will have to pay Hyde, Caribe, Roc Nation, I am not sure if Arum gets his nose in that 500 000k. He's got to pay Pedro Diaz probably 10 % for this. Pay taxes almost half of what it makes. So what is he left with? And he's going to agree to that to fight the best opponent yet at a higher weight? Are you that bitter with Rigo's performances. A guy has two boring fights out of 16 and he should get whatever money he could get just cause he bored you.

Very well said. However, I think networks are not allowed to directly compensate fighters in this sport. That is the responsibility of the promoters and managers to deal. With that being said, if the promoter truly believed in the fight and wanted to give the boxing fans the fight, then yes, Arum clearly and by far have the funds to compensate such a request.

But there are general people that are cheap, some may say even cultural based, so amplify that to a rich man like Arum. Nothing's different, and especially after what Rigo did to Donaire. How come most boxing fans acknowledge Rigo's schooling over Donaire instead of calling it boring? Seems like more post Rigo gets the heat, and I think psychologically wasn't feeling challenged nor happy with that 2 weeks notice on the HBO undercard of Cotto Canelo. Think about it. I mean ''training camp'' for that undercard is more like ''we seriously didn't even train.''

after taxes and all the deductions from promoters, hanger ons trainers etc...

rigo would be lucky to come home with 100k.

i think this fight would be a loss-loss for rigo, if he gets sparked by loma, he'd probably never fight again and he beats loma badly, nobody would get in the ring with him; so he'd be better off fighting tomato cans as usual for some money than get this fight, unless it is for a whole lot of money-which he is not gonna get
