Comments Thread For: Frampton-Quigg: A Tale of Three Dressing Rooms?

Both camps had a lot to say during today’s final presser for Saturday’s showdown between IBF super bantamweight titlist Carl Frampton and WBA "super" titleholder Scott Quigg.

A row over who would get the “home” dressing room at the Manchester Arena had erupted earlier in the day and was taken up again by both teams.

“I'm entitled to that dressing room,” stated Frampton when the issue reared its head again. “He wants it. We might lock it and go in to different dressing rooms. He's superstitious, wants that dressing room and it's a sign of weakness. I don't mind what dressing room I'm in.”

“Ok that's solved then,” added Quigg.

“This is principle here,” argued Frampton. “I'm on the left side. Me, not you. I'm coming to Manchester to fight you. I didn't have to. I have loads of options. You only had me.”

I heard Frampton's weight issue brought up by a writer who said he didn't see Carl break a sweat in a public workout, so he was going Quigg. Kind of like following race horses around to see one take a dump then bet on him. It's not sure fire, but it's a method I guess.

Interesting - what is the thinking behind that? If you don't sweat then what - you are dehydrated?

It means that he's having to do a lot of cutting to make the weight, he's already sweated himself out.

That's the theory kind of, but it's not a guarantee. Here's a theory, at the intros, when they're standing face to face. The guy who looks down at the matt, is searching for a soft spot to fall on. I tend to go with the other guy.

lol - and the guy with sweat on his brow at the standoff is nervous, especially if he is late to the ring because he needed a dump first

I'd like to have seen the workout. Frampton is incredibly cut - maybe the workout was at a real low level compared to his capacity for exercise.

Frampton and McGuigan have shown a real lack of class during this build up, almost on a Eubank Sr./Jr. level. They keep talking about how they have Quigg and his team rattled etc but they're the ones acting up and taking issue with everything, Quigg just seems like business as usual.
