This is a great step-up fight for Parker..... close to perfect.

The key from here is..... IF successful, don't take a backward step in terms of opponent selection..... sideways a bit, for different styles/positioning, is fine..... just not backwards.

    WAR Parker !!

Fans have been calling for a step-up fight for Parker, and here it is.

Fantastic matchup - was hoping for either Takam or Stiverne, personally.

Fight not signed. IBF just send email to both parties saying they are top 2 avaliable fighters

Great fight. It's time to see if Parker is the real deal.

Yeah being from NZ I'm a massive Parker fan too, but I reckon its a bit too much of a step up as well.

Haha we're a funny bunch, we all think he's being protected for fighting chumps and now we think they're nuts for taking on someone too hard. Who exactly is "middle-ground?" Browne? Chisora? Leapai? TT? Who should he have fought?

I guess they think they could throw a few more middle-ground boxers against him for a year or two, but if he's ready for the leap he's ready for the leap. They know how much of a step back it'll be if he loses, so I guess they think he can do it. And they probably know better than me.

Anyone in the top twenty/thirty would have been ideal. Takam is too big a jump in quality. He's a legit top ten with strong showings against some of the best fighters in the world, plus he's tough as nails and has a very awkward style. I'm all for Parker stepping up his competition but this isn't a step up, it's a vertical leap.

One thing's for sure. If Parker wins this then he can't be denied. It's a real sink or swim fight.
