That ***** Kathy Duva is the one to blame for that scenario, she could have waited for Fury to fight Wlad and then negotiated with Fury or called for a purse bid, instead she intentionally got Fury stripped by calling for an immediate purse bid even though she knew about the rematch clause.

She wasn't interested in inforcing the mandatory, she was only interested in getting Fury stripped so she can get her fighter a paper title, the same fighter who pulled out of negotiations with Wilder in order to fight for that paper IBF.

So in essence, Duva tried to duck two world champs at the same time while getting her hands on a world title, too bad karma backfired on her.

I'm not a Fury fan, in fact, I'm a Wilder fan, but come on bro I know you didn't just say that.
Fury allowed that clause to be there for a bigger split of the purse, which will remain undisclosed.

Had he opted for a mandatory route (Fury was the WBA and WBO mandatory), Klitschko couldn't insist on such options. But of course, thats a 30% split of the purse. The WBA purse bid was 24 hours away at the point of the fight being fully agreed.

After all, the $$$ is really in Russia I think...unless the fight is really, really promoted well here in the US. Where would they realistically sell out at, over here in America?

On a side note, I like the idea of a world-level titlist travelling far and wide defending his belt. If ya wanna be called world champion, hit the road jack and beat guys in their homes too. don't just make everyone come to you
Wilder-Povetkin at the Barclays Center (NYC has the largest Russian/Russian-speaking population in the United States, in addition to NYC already being one of the stronger boxing markets for PBC; build the card and it does massive business) would be a pretty massive event, tbh.

A world-level titlist should travel wherever the fight can be the biggest and bring the most money; traveling for the sake of traveling is useless.

"I will not go to Russia because it's cold and he has to come to my home coz I'm the champ", said in the heat of the moment after his fight with Szpilka, is not bollocks because it suits your agenda.

But "I want Povetkin as soon as possible" and "The very idea of vacating when I want to unify the titles is the dumbest thing I ever heard" , both said after the 'not going to Russia' statement are bollocks for the sole reason that they **** on every single imaginary misconception that you have about Wilder?

Sure, I get it now. You can argue with yourself from now on. Let's talk again after the fight though, I'll be very intested in what you have to say then, for the first five minutes or so, as I'm sure the rest will be garbage excuses.

Fury was a mandatory challenger and under no obligation to agree to a rematch clause.

Something so many of you choose to overlook.

Fury had a guaranteed title shot with or without a rematch clause. Fury knew full well that accepting a rematch clause would require giving up the IBF title and he did it anyway.

I'm not knocking him. He did what he thought was most lucrative, but stop acting like he was blameless in the situation. He chose to give up his belt to fight Klitschko again. Stop acting like he was forced to agree to a rematch.

He was a mandatory challenger. He had a title shot with NO REMATCH, GUARANTEED and *chose* to sell a rematch clause to Wladimir.

If Wilder fights and beats Povetkin, i'll give him the credit that's due. I don't believe Povetkin is on the same level as Fury/Wlad/Ortiz, but it'll still be an excellent win. I however, have my doubts that the fight will happen.

Wilder is the most feared heavyweight fighter right now the only way Fury can talk face to face with him is after he's had 5 or 6 pints of cheap lager, disgraceful.
Or when he is on twitter.

While you're 100% spot on, I believe this was a hedging decision on part of team Fury.

I don't think any of them gave more than a 25% chance for Fury to actually beat Wlad, so they said "he's very likely to lose, so let's accept the rematch clause so we can get a bigger share of the purse".

If that was my fighter who was going up against a long-reigning champion, it's what I would have advised him to do.

I doubt it. The amount of money he's set to earn would be too much to pass up.
