Stevenson doesn't have any excuses anymore. PBC is dying, Haymon fighters are now appearing on HBO and he's pretty much irrelevant. There is literally nothing preventing him from fighting Kovalev, but the usual suspects will run to his aid regardless.

Stevenson is the lineal champ, he doesn't have to bow to HBO, Khan says Fv*k Freddy Roach, and he wants to do the same with PBC, dreaming to have the same type of exposure Canelo has.
Anyhow, with HBO, he has 2 scenarios:
1) Khan get knocked out
2) Khan win by points, but looses on HBO judges scores cards; Loss again.
3) With option #2, he gets a revenge, and last big payday.
*At least, it's better than loosing to Garcia twice...

Stevenson & Showtime show their hands to HBO, but HBO refuse to shake it. At the end HBO will loose their war, bringing boxing down with them, if PBC stop their effort to save the sport.

Anyway, when the fight was setup in 2013, their was only 2 belts in line, the WBC & the cheaper WBO, none of these guys were sign under contract with HBO, also with a cheap 2,4 millions split max for both caliber.

Yea this is HBO's fault they only offered 2m in the beginning which is peanuts. Cause stevenson makes almost that per fight

Nobody gives a **** about him being a lineal champion. Nobody regards him as the best in the division and nobody cares about him beyond any Kovalev-related discussion. He sells no tickets, does awful ratings and has no genuinely interesting fights on the horizon. He has no upside in this sport.

And PBC has absolutely no future in boxing. It's destined to be remembered as a monumental flop on the scale of the XFL or New Coke.

Actually, if you followed the fight build up, Pascal, as usual, was very vocal about chimp representations on tshirts and defended Stevenson for that matter.

One might think, this was a sense of social responsibility from Stevenson's part such as confrontation which Kova didn't want, but as you said, yeah clearly Pascal was in discontent because Stevenson was following the example...

Also, do you really believe Stevenson invented crews following a boxer? Why say such rubbish mate. New to boxing. Tyson, the most feared had a crew too.. so what. Grow some hair on your chest. Makes completely no sense why the Krusher ran away. I repeat, it makes no sense. The point is to promote fights. Boxers with beef usuaully tend to have heavy confrontations, but as you said, I assume, because Adonis had a crew, which wouldn't matter because there's security, Kova was scared because Stevenson had a crew?

hmm my prediction is Ward will have a tougher time with Barerra than expected, he will sqeak by with the win. Claim it was due to injury during fight.
Kovalev will be without a fight, combined with the elevated pressure on Chickenson we may actually get this fight later this year.

Stevenson will fight 2-3 more can's on PBC and then retire, he probobly wont mind either as he must know kovalev destroys him in a couple of rounds.
