The thing is, this could be bigger next year. I think they did Lemiuex way too soon and that created the crappy PPV buyrate. Lemieux's big win was not even televised on HBO.

Oscar gave in to Canelo when he demanded the Trout and Lara fights...not gonna happen with the GGG fight. Canelo getting knocked out will damage him and GBP for a while...don't expect it for another year or more...

the difference is that canelo isn't demanding the GGG fight

he needs to be stripped of his MW belt ASAP and told to fight at 154 again if he wants a new jr MW belt

It's **** like this that makes it hard to defend this damn sport. It's pathetic how desperately Oscar is trying to keep canelo away from golovkin, with excuses like "he hasn't fully matured into a middlweight" and "the fight needs to marinate to attract more people". The only thing that I'm seeing here is Oscar trying to play the waiting game, and taking advantage of canelos youth. If they're waiting for ggg to get old over night, that might just bite them in the ass, because the longer that they wait, the harder it is for canelo to make his 155lb catchweight. But who knows, maybe he's moving up to 156 in 2017.

I think "marinate" is a key word. Whoever uses it - promoter, or writer on promoter's payroll - is the enemy of the sport. We shall clearly distinguish them and remember for who they are - frauds. This particular case is clear as a whistle - they hope to "wait out" Golovkin. I'm taking issues with Golovkin and his team. They ALLOWED this to happen. Endless postponements and voluntary defences... At this point Canelo should've been stripped already, and if not - WBC taken to court. But GGG team played along, hoping that they will get the fight in September... Are they ******? It is clear that GBP wants to avoid the fight. And WBC, allowing to win and then to defend MW title at 155 makes a mockery of the sport.
