  • Team GGG doing excellent job at promoting

from time to time i see people here claiming that GGG should drop his team but honestly even though his team has a hard time getting key fights (not due to lack of trying) they are doing an excellent job at promoting his fights. He is selling out pretty much all his fights now, he is constantly talked about (hated or loved) on the forums, YTBC and now going a little more wide spread with ESPN etc. His fights are being well advertised... even though some of the opponents aren't well known.

the progress that they made with him in 3 years is insane. can you imagine how popular he would have been if his current team was there when he turned pro, its no secret that his German promoter (Sutherland) screwed him as far as promoting goes, he wasn't well known, he couldn't get any meaningful fights at all and was trying to get the Sturm fight for years, at least now he is in a position to fight the biggest cash cow in boxing (will it happen? i dont know but he is in that position).

Look at the advertising for Ward vs. Barrera fight, for the Keith Thurman vs. Porter fights... those fights are intriguing as well but not nearly as well advertised or even talked about as GGG vs. Wade fight. GGG is talented and works hard, and got to where he is because of his hard work and talent but you can't deny that his team helped him to get to where he is today and as far as i am concerned for all the smack talk and boxing politics he has benefited a lot by switching to K2 and sticking with them.

How come it's not working for others? Ward namedrops star Ggg, 300k tune into basic cable to watch him. Ditto Lara name-dropping everyone, fans run away. Maybe you got a better theory?

Loefler has done an amazing job. Also credit to Golovkin..he does a lot of traveling away from his family for appearances, international trips, ect that other fighters are simply not willing to do.

yeah i noticed, he and his team work hard, he goes to all the conventions WBC, WBA etc. he and his team hold press conferences months before the fights. he and his team are true professionals and are hard workers. All they need now is that Canelo fight and sky is the limit if they win that one.

I dont recall Ward ever needing to use GGG's name or calling him out first. And Lara, geez man do I really need to go there?

Where have you been man? All Ward talks about these days is lil G.

Nobody has ever sold 20k tickets at MSG via name-dropping. Come back after you think this through?

His marketing team deserve a lot of credit, piggy backing the success of Canelo also has helped no end as the typical Canelo fan is well aware of the successes of GGG now.

I disagree with that, his success was apparent before Canelo even came into the mix. He sold his Monroe before he was Canelo's mandatory.

I'm not saying his success is based on that alone, I'm saying they've used the Canelo angle to huge advantage also. His team are doing an expert job but will have a hard sell to the typical American ppv consumer, hence the reason they're targeting the Canadian and Mexican audience.
