Probably true, but Mayweather likely only said that to get public support in wake of the earlier Pacquiao comments. Those guys were feeding off each other tit-for-tat at that point in time, due to the failed fight.

Pretty much all religions leaders are on the same page when it comes to gays. They say don't condemn the person, we must include that person.
