Vegas is about money. They don't care how rich and famous you are if you aint spending money. Canelo will sell out the T-Mobile arena and do well on PPV but what type of audience is he bringing to Vegas? Floyd "Money" Mayweather brought in the big spenders. Floyd's audience are people who like to spend money and ball out. I met a guy who owns two liquor stores on the strip and he said the week of a Floyd fight he stocks up on expensive liquor, champagne, and raises the price and he still sells out. The "Money" Mayweather act was about more than selling the fight, it was selling a lifestyle he knew would be successful in Vegas. Another person I see doing that now is Conor "El Chapo Jr." McGregor. He's created that persona since his last fight in Vegas. He's talking about money and how he tips Nate Diaz wage. He had the highest UFC gate in history during his last fight in Vegas. The Irish crowd was huge and the Irish love to gamble. Watch the video. Conor has gone the "Money" Mayweather route and I don't think it's by coincidence.
