Comments Thread For: Roach Doubts Miguel Cotto Can Make 147 For Marquez Clash

Freddie Roach, who trains former four division world champion Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33KOs), says the Puerto Rican star is likely unable to squeeze down to the welterweight limit for a fall showdown with Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs), who also captured four world titles in four weight divisions.

Cotto should fight a 154lb contender like Charlo

Stop picking an easy fight for the worn out battered slow taking Cotto at 147lbs which will drain the old Cotto of the little Cotto has left in him. Make a decent fight with a Charlo either one who will beat Cotto.

Lets be real here, marquez has had a better career, whos is cottos best win? torres?
Old mosley? old Peg leg martinez? Plus why the hell is cotto always fighting Catchweights? Just like alvarez, cotto is another fighter without a weight class TOO big for 147 and TOO small for 154
Just when you thought boxings 17 weight classes were too many, fighters like cotto and alvarez want to add thier OWN wght division

It can happen if both b*tches quit being divas.
If both wanted it like they claim they do, they can get it done.

            Charlo?
Why would Cotto fight some unknown? A guy only known to hardcore fans?
If Cotto continues his career he wants name fighters, not no names.

My guess is Roach told Cotto to insist on VADA testing...so then Marquez's camp came back and said that 147 + rehydration crap to kill the fight. MARK MY WORDS, Marquez will fight someone he doesn't have to drug test against aka an Alvarado-type. My guess is that Marquez has given up on that 5th division title and will just take one more money fight where he can roid up in. I could see Mosley or maybe even Rios or since Alvarado is coming back that rematch etc.

Both undefeated Charlo's will be Cotto fairly easy. Cotto wants an easy fight as usual.

Marquez's entire career is based off that Pacquiao KO... and we have reason to believe he was on roids for the fight... perhpas even in the 3rd fight..and he lost 3 fights to Pacquiao, a scoring error shouldn't change a decision when it's based on a knockdown... so Marquez is 1-3 vs. Pac in reality and the 3rd and especially 4th fight demonstrate a lot of evidence to show he was using PEDs/roids... He fought Barrera at the end of his career..a lot of people thought Barrera won but fine, we'll give Marquez that.. Marquez beat an older Barrera and a Pacquiao once (after losing 3 times) ... he beat an old Casamoyer and beat Juan Diaz (who Malignaggi schooled twice) Marquez lost to Bradley lost in Indonesia.. and fought a lot of tune ups and bums... lost 12 rounds to Floyd easily (according to him, the only loss of his career)

Cotto beat Mosley well before Floyd beat him... same Mosley who rocked Floyd in that second round.. but I bet you're one of those tools who think Floyd has an amazing resume when all of your arguments against Cotto could apply to Floyd and show Floyd's last real good win was the supposed rematch with Castillo after he lost the first fight and got a gift.

No, Cotto just like every professional fighter, wants a fight that will give him the most money. Charlo either of them won't do that.
