It's just mental ************ for the Kovalev haters, but it's just another myth. In reality Kovalev was nice to little Golovkin, no such thing happened when they sparred and he is his known as his bodyguard around here.

Kovalev had Hopkins pinned in corners the entire fight , Willie Monroe was able to keep GGG in the centre of the ring and have success. Kovalev is faster and throws straighter and much more powerful punches.

Hopkins was a very smart boxer with a great defense and great stamina. He also had a chin of iron and all the courage and determination a boxer could possibly have. He fought lots of big punchers and none of them ever came close to knocking him out or even beating him. He probably never faced a fighter who had quite the two handed power of GGG. Hopkins was an all time great middleweight champ and set the record for successful title defenses. He was unbeatable until he pasted 40 years old. I thought he won both Taylor fights as well. I think a prime Hopkins would go the full distance even with GGG. He would also give GGG lots of trouble and possibly win. No middleweight in history was so good that a prime Hopkins would not have a good chance to beat them in my opinion. Roy Jones beat him but he was still green then and not prime yet.
