guys who can't (or won't) fight on the inside

The only guys that I really don't like are the ones who can't (or won't) fight on the inside. The 2 world class fighters that qualify in that regard are Wladimir Klitschko and Jermain Taylor. Another successful fighter that nobody gives a rat's ass about is Henry Akinwande, whose inside fighting ability was so bad that he got disqualified for holding against Lennox Lewis.

Inside fighting and "pocket" fighting (as James Toney calls it) takes more overall skill than outside boxing because you need to learn how to defend yourself when your opponent is always within striking distance. You need to learn how to block and slip punches, use angles, use your arms and shoulders to block punches and also roll with punches that you can't stop. All the fighters that I regard as complete are inside fighters. Anybody who can fight inside or in the pocket can also fight on the outside but the converse is false. I've never seen Jermain Taylor fight worth a plug nickel on the inside. It hasn't cost him yet because of his height, reach, overall speed and strength but it will cost him some day. It's already cost Wladimir Klitschko 3 losses, and to my disgust, instead of taking the time and making the effort to learn the inside fight game he has resorted to holding, always a strong indicator of gross incompetence in inside fighting.

Only style I can't stand, is the style Morrad Hakkar used against Hopkins.

That's not fighting or boxing, that's just ****ing whack.

Huggybear Louise hands down! His jab-hug-rabbit punch tactic is not only disgusting but illegal as well IMO.

B-Hopkins is another boring fighter to watch. He does everything to win, smart fighter, but boring.

I like Winky, RWW said it best. I thought his high-guard defense-then-counterpunch style won't work on a power-punching fighter like Trinidad, but he schooled him.

I like JMM as well, but put him in the ring with a brave fighter willing to trade punches like Mantecas Medina, Licona and Pacquiao. Pair him with a scared opponent like Forrest Gump Gainer, Salido and Chris John and he'll stink the house down.

ruiz, no doubt. a totally unskilled, untalented, unlikable, and unpleasing to watch HW is what ruiz is.

You can't take him out: He's a highly gaurded escort tank.

I'm also starting to think the J.C. Vasquez that floored Winky five times could kill an elephant with 1 punch.

Sure his style has evolved, and he's moved up in weight but the guy is the best defensive fighter in boxing.

To me.....Running away from people is not defense.

Defense is blocking attacks with the gloves and arms, and Wright is better at that then anyone in boxing.

              Once again though he's armored.

Soliman tried to overwhelm him with machine gun fire as opposed to mortar shells....and that didin't work worth a damn.

The bullets grazed off his shield and he pounded Soliman's body like there was no tommorow.

yea, Audly is the new I guy I cannot stand. He's a big guy. That guy has power, BUT HE DOES NOT WANT his opponents hurt.

i sort of disagree with the statment about hopkins provided in the poll.

i actually thought that hopkins did enough to win his last fight.

out of this poll, harrison is my first choice - and not ruiz because it looked like he's actually starting to try to box a little more.

t.o.s has one of the worst styles not mentioned. his whole plan, at least for the last few fights, was run, run, and run some more while hoping you're opponent tires. i'd sat williamson/byrd was about as boring as rahman/barrett.
