  • Rate Peter Nelson's first 6 months of HBO Boxing Programming

All of HBO's biggest stars have fought or have a fight scheduled thru the first 6 months of the year.

    Jan 30th
    Kovalev vs. Pascal II
    Mikhaylenko vs. Mayfield

    Feb. 27th
    Crawford vs. Lundy
    Verdejo vs Silva

    March 5th
    Ortiz vs. Thompson
    Ali vs. Vargas

    March 26th
    Ward vs. Barrera

    April 9th
    Pacquiao vs. Bradley III
    G. Rameriz vs. Abraham
    Valdez vs. Gradovich
    J. Ramirez vs. Perez

    April 23rd
    Golovkin vs. Wade
    R. Gonzalez vs. Juan Hernandez

    May 7th
    Canelo vs. Khan
    Herrera vs. Matthysse (possible)

Kovalev could fight again in June but his promoter is talking about a fight in Russia and the Stevenson deal fell thru so most likely it'll be a showcase fight.

Arum has said Crawford will be ready to fight again in June/July. Can't think of an intriguing opponent since Matthysse will more than likely be fighting on the Canelo undercard. Postol would be a good fight but his manager says they want one fight before Crawford but they don't even have a fight scheduled.

Lomanchenko vs. Walters could change the rating or R. Gonzalez vs a live body could make the rating different but those fights aren't even being discussed as we know of.

You can't really kill him. He is working with a reduced budget and is just on the job. I'd give him 3 stars overall but I am very disappointed with what they have planned so far for the guys they have exclusive deals with.

The ortiz/thompson ali/vargas card is good but they do not have deals. Lomanchenko will be given a cupcake and will not go up to 130 to fight walters.

Mind you they do not need anyone aligned with Haymon either.

How much better would it be if we were seeing/saw:

    Jan 30th
    Kovalev vs. Yuneski Gonzalez
    Mikhaylenko vs. Mayfield

    Feb. 27th
    Crawford vs. Postol
    Verdejo vs Silva

    March 5th
    Ortiz vs. Thompson
    Ali vs. Vargas

    March 26th
    Ward vs. Shabrynsky
    Herrera v Matthysse

    April 9th
    Pacquiao vs. Khan
    Ramirez v Abraham
    Valdez vs. Gradovich
    J. Ramirez vs. Perez

    May 7th
    Canelo v Golovkin
    Gonzalez vs. estrada

Yes its one less card but its so much more quality that we as boxing fans would be buzzing.

I gave him 3 stars for attempting to work with Haymon. Good start. Hopefully it'll pick up in the second half of the year.

0 'fresh' headlining fights between 2 top 10 contenders in any weight division. Totally unacceptable.

Looking at those fights I'm sure all the favourites are expected to win. They're all officially mismatches just like Bob Arum said it'll be. He gets some brownie points for working with Uncle Al.

HBO Schedule is ass. Best they have going for them are PPVs.... and both are in the fall and both still have a meh chance of happening this year

This makes it a little worse.
