Paul Williams vs Sergio Martinez 1 Appreciation thread: Did Maravilla deserve to win?

I've been getting some great suggestions on fights we can compare and score

this particular fight caught my attention because the action and the high stakes.

I cant remember who I had winning but it will be fun scoring this barnburner

feel free to add your scorecards and I'll add mine up soon

    Martinez won.

It was close and I'll have to rewatch (and ignore the awful commentary), but I do recall another gift for Paul.

        It's a wise idea.

HBO fights in particular, Lampley's ultra biased commentary often goes totally against what is actually happening in the ring.

he was part of the reason I started watching more Showtime shows years ago...they call the fights how they see them, not criticize the fighters and **** **** **** til the bell rangs

Most shocking part about this fight was how well Martinez fought with his **** in Lampley's mouth. Props.

              Yes then, and Yes now.

I feel like Martinez landed the more thudding and hard shots, Williams was always excused of doing alot of pitty patty jabs or slaps.

And if we go by todays standards, those shots mean nothing.
Look at Lara Vs Canelo, Canelo Vs Trout. And where a very few might say May Vs Pac.

Martinez absolutely spanked him, remember it like it was yesterday. Paul was never really a talent in my eyes.

Without a doubt, and I haven't watched it since I saw it the second time. Personally Marteniz was dangerous for damn near every middleweight currently and past. Unfortanitly his drive destroyed his body.

I have nothing but the largest amount of respect for Sergio Martinez. For his size and lack of experience was made up by a enormous Heart and natural talents. An amazing fighter and person!
