Pacquiao really announces himself to the boxing world with a stoppage win over the favourite Barrera. In what turned out to be the only stoppage of the Mexican's career.
Pacquiao picked up the Ring belt. A year later Barrera would beat Morales in the rubber match of their trilogy.

The Ledwaba fight is just how you announce yourself on the world stage when you get your shot. Completely won over the commentators in a handful of rounds.

Apart from how tv friendly he is, the one thing that stands out in the early Pacquiao fights is how raw he is. He clearly has crazy talent but the output is always the same, straight lefts over and over again from the same positions. From the fighter he is at this stage to the fighter who moves up the welterweight the skill level changes massively.

Felt like watching a career set over a few nights. Was initially thinking of watching De La Hoya's defining fights. But with Pacquiao set to take part in his farewell fight soon, i thought i'd rewatch some of his old fights.

I got started last night. I'm going to focus on his wins, and more exciting fights.. and so far, so good, i'm enjoying catching up on some fights i've not seen in a while.

I can't rewatch his fights because I just can't enjoy them knowing he was drugged up to the eyeballs. His career is tainted. I'd rather watch PBM and appreciate a natural talent who showcased his brilliant skills without resorting to peds. Nothing personal against Manny, just don't like junkies. Thanks.

Couldn't agree more. I actually hated Pacquiao at first for what he did to Barrera.
