Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Gives His Take on Canelo Alvarez vs. Amir Khan

Presumably Amir Khan will be making enough from his out-of-the-blue fight with Canelo Alvarez to help towards buying Bolton Wanderers. One can only hope he fares better than his stricken home-town football club but like them, it’s a tough one for him.

Canelo will be coming in a lot more than 10lbs over 155.

He'll be 170/175 on the night, I would think.

Khan might also be bigger than people expect him to be.

Well apparently hunter is gonna stick some muscle on his frame.....can they actually build muscle on his chin ? lol As for Khan being 165 or 170 just you watch the difference in speed compared to him at 140 or 147..and watch him fall harder on the canvas... Apparently if Khan shocks the world he's going up to face kovalev lol .....Khan the kovalev krusher hahahaa

              Amir "Chunky" Khan!

It would be crazy if he missed Caneloweight on the scales and weighed in somewhere between 155 and 160.

It's a MW title fight, so he would be allowed to do that.

It is not just a case of making the weight.

It is how carrying the extra weight benefits or at least doesn't affect him negatively.

Khan cannot just go to burger king, (or a Curry House) to fatten up - that type of weight obviously will work against him.

He needs to add enough muscle to sustain around 160lbs and cut back from that to weigh in.

So, Khan must add weight and then lose it for the weigh-in and then add it back on to come in at 160lbs plus for fight night.

Physiology plays a part - its harder for Asian's to gain / lose weight quickly.

For Canelo it's easy, all he has to do is cut weight for the weigh-in and then re-hydrate and eat plenty to come in strong and natural around 170lbs plus.

Khan is (IMO) placing his body under too much duress with the weight issue.

Dela hoya and the WBC are out of order here to stick Khan in with his lack of form and activity at this weight and for the title, it's crazy. The truth is i'm not even sure that Khan has done enough to warrant a shot at the welterweight title.
I don't blame Khan, even though his thoughts are misplaced he'll earn well and in his eye's he will outbox Canelo and take all the spoils and glory in one go,he's always been delusional and that won't happen.
There is a reason for having weights and contenders but Oscar is off the chain and running his own version of fantasy boxing with a faded named fighter against his in house top dog.Oscar has been watching too many Rocky films and the build up to this farce is going to be really embarrassing, just wait for the muppet at the Mail to get going.
This is going to be a complete circus with a brutal ending and like I've said most fighters 99.9% would jump at this opportunity given the millions on offer but the truth is 99.9% shouldn't get it , Amir Khan is one of them.

Really hated to see Khan land a fight of this magnitude ...had he been facing better foes. You look at CaneloKhans recent opposition...HUGE class difference.

I wonder what rd Canelo stops Khan though? Im leaning toward the 2-3rd
