GGG and Rigo can take note from Khan

GGG and Rigo and their fans love to talk about being feared and avoided. And that may be true. However they're stuck fighting underwhelming opponents. Khan had trouble securing the big names such as Floyd and Manny, so he said f-it and moved up to face Canelo.

GGG, I will admit, was willing to move up for Chavez Jr and Froch. However, GGG had the same option to move up and face Ward but decided not too unless for a cw that he didn't require of Chavez Jr or Froch.

Rigo on the other hand cant get a good name at 122, and has refused to go up to 126 for Lomo or Santa Cruz or Mares.

I don't blame Rigo or GGG for staying at their respective weight classes, but I'm tired of hearing how they can't get big names to step in the ring while they make no effort to move up or down to get one. Khan was willing to do that and I give him props for it. Shoot even Ward is nearing a fight with Kovalev later this year, which required him to move up to LHW.

One missing ingredient for both guys is a heavier guy like Canelo looking to fight small guys, and bringing big money on Ppv. Closest was Chavez for Ggg but he didn't bite and got humiliated for much less

Oh really? and tell me who do Rigo or GGG have in the upper division to make a PPV mega fight with 10+ millions for each fighter? you fool... you believe Khan isn't doing it for the money? why didn't he move up to MW to face BJS for example?

Khan is taking a calculated risk. He's making $8M, fighting a guy many think will destroy him. He already opened up as a 4-1 underdog, and that line could rise by fight night when money of Canelo side comes in. A loss to Canelo would fill his pockets, probably give him some brain damage, but hey that's boxing, but it will also keep him relevant enough for bigger paydays down the line. He could still get the Kell Brook fight, and demand A-side money. Had he faced Brook first, there would be the risk of losing and then becoming largely irrelevant.

GGG and Rigo don't have anyone in the higher weight classes that can guarantee them a purse of that size, or even come close to it. Otherwise they'd be chomping at the bit. That's why GGG's team has targeted Chavez Jr. and Froch.

If he fights anyone other than Froch or Chavez Jr. at 168 he's only looking at $1, maybe $2M, purse. Is that worth it?

Rigo has it even worse. The most he can get against Loma is 500K. Is that worth it? Probably not.

Well there's no 10 million dollar fight for neither GGG (outside of Canelo, who wont budge on cw) or Rigo but it sure beats fighting no namers for chump change. Rigo can get Santa Cruz, Mares or Lomo for way better money than staying at 122 and fighting no bodies. GGG can make more money fighting Ward than he would anyone else but Canelo.

And are you sure Ward wants to fight GGG?

True they don't have anyone they can fight that can bring them Canelo money, but Canelo is a special case, he's an outlier in terms of big fights. The other big fights can still bring good money, definitely better money than what GGG and Rigo are making by staying put. And you're not telling me he wouldn't make good money fighting Ward? Maybe not Froch or Chavez Jr but close enough where it should be enticing.

Also to strengthen my point, sure they wont be able to make Canelo money by taking the risk of moving up but unlike Khan; GGG and Rigo would be extremely live dogs, maybe even money in those fights, unlike Khan who is most likely get KTFO.

The way Ward has turned into a "pay me what I'm worth" fighter, yes he would. Ward is a guy who's confident in his skill and has fought heavy handed dudes. It's the reason why he's likely to have Kovalev later this year.

Which is why Khan is going up for this silly fight. So hard to take pointers from him
