Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez vs. Amir Khan: When the Stars Don't Align

By Cliff Rold - The announcement of a middleweight title fight this week between champion Saul Alvarez and former Jr. welterweight titlist Amir Khan couldn't have come at a better time for press and social media. Boxing has very little going on at center stage right now. We're a few weeks away from the next fight that really moves the needle.

Alvarez-Khan gave people something to talk about.

It doesn't make it a good fight.

This is about what happens when the bigger stars don't align for better fights to be made.

I don't think it's fair to say he hasn't "been the man in his division" in this Era of boxing. He chased the Tim Bradley fight at 140 which would of established who "the man" was but Bradley had other plans.

Well Mr Cliff Rold thats a very silly article old chap...Either you are new to the game of prizefighting, or you are friend of British Promoter and khan nemesis Eddie Hearns.

Perhaps you have never witnessed an event involving a British fighter and this fight will be turned into an EVENT by the British media its already happening the buzz and energy is going to on a different level.

Similar to when Ricky Hatton fought Pacquaio, fight only lasted two rounds but
the whole event had excitement. Its a bold move by Khan so show some objectivity and give credit were it is due. This fight like Hatton vs Pacquaio is going to be exciting while it lasts.

Huge difference here mate. Hatton came back and looked better under Floyd SR and Pac looked great. Hatton fought Pac at 140 which was Hattons best weight. everyone gave Hatton a decent chance to win. Khan is inconsistent and going up in weight to face a getting better every time fighter in Canelos who's strong and is heavily favored. This is a huge mis Match and if British fans are really that naive and dumb then they deserve to have their money parted for watching this fight .

This is a joke of a fight, should be on PBS for free.

Josesito Lopez vs CaneLOL II is next.

            Got to be kidding me.

Well.... I said it once and I will say it again, "THIS FIGHT IS A JOKE". Cotto's power couldn't move Canelo so how do you expect "Popcorn hands Khan" to hurt or even back Canelo up. This kid is going to get hurt badly and I will hold the corrupt Boxing Commissions Officials responsible for letting this crap go down.

Mr. Canelo.... man up an fight GGG.

Not all of us are naive and a lot of us think it's a joke , a mismatch, a farce or whatever else applies to this fight......still stunned the WBC sanctioned it
