According to Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, there was a lot of acting going on last Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Roach worked the corner of Jean Pascal (30-4-1, 17KOs), who was stopped in the seventh round of his rematch with WBA/WBO/IBF light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (29-0-1, 26KOs).

I thought this was a pathetic attempt by HBO to copy what happened with wilder/fury because it got so much positive press afterward.

The difference is Fury and Wilder are entertaining when they communicate while Kov and Adonis are not.

Khan (Haymon) is fighting Canelo on HBO. Dominic Wade (Haymon) is fighting GGG on HBO. It seems HBO is warming up to Haymon, so it's logical that they would LOVE to put Kovalev vs. Stevenson on HBO or a joint venture with Showtime. It was an awful spectacle, but...I get it.

There was a change in leadership at HBO boxing recently (right after Haymon and Arum gave the company its biggest payday ever). Something is definitely going on behind the scenes with all of these executives (Haymon, Oscar, Arum, Duva, HBO, Showtime, etc.)

I am under the impression that boxing is more like WWE now than ever before. (It all started for me with that Mayweather/Pacquiao basketball game story, which was clearly staged) But as long as we get good fights, its all good with me. 2016 is off to a great start thus far! Even this ****ty fight with Khan and Canelo is going to be an event; not that I am buying it. But I have a few buddies from LA who definitely will lol

"There's no long-term deal. It's one fight and a rematch clause, that's it," our source tells us. Khan himself also confirmed his allegiance to Haymon shortly after the fight announcement when he thanked him in a tweet that read, "Wow! Incredible response and fantastic support, thank you everyone, couldn't have done it without my team and Al Haymon." In fact, it is our understanding that Haymon was very much involved in finalizing the deal. Although he did not speak directly with any representatives of Golden Boy Promotions, we're told that Haymon worked directly with representatives of Team Khan, who in turn relayed information to him as negotiations were taking place. To make a long story short, if you thought that Amir Khan was no longer working with Al Haymon, or that Al Haymon would not make a fight with Golden Boy Promotions, think again. On the contrary, Haymon has once again done what he's always done; secured the biggest and best possible deal for his fighter despite any animosity directed towards him. As the saying goes, if it makes dollars, it makes sense.
