Comments Thread For: Kovalev-Pascal II Averages 1.179 Million Viewers

Sergey Kovalev began his 2016 campaign in the same manner in which he kicked off 2015 – with a stoppage win over Jean Pascal at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The event fittingly produced nearly identical ratings results, as the sequel slightly outperformed the original in home viewership.

An average of 1.179 million viewers tuned in for Kovalev’s one-sided 7th round beatdown of Pascal in a three-belt light heavyweight fight that topped the 2016 season premiere of HBO World Championship Boxing. The event peaked at 1.269 million viewers.

Crazy to think that it beat the first fight! Strong ratings for a **** fight, I hope this doesn't give HBO license to go out and continue feeding us mismatches.

HBO has never had a problem with airing mismatches. Just look at most of Roy Jones HBO career. They just don't want to pay top dollar for mismatches.

Good numbers for HBO. Anything over 1M on a premium network is a good number for boxing.

Mikhaylenko-Mayfield averaged 701K for anyone interested.

it shows that their "destructive force" selling tool is working i guess..
all the reason more why kathy duva signed with them instead of going through with the purse bid she pursued
kovalev is protected just like anyone else...take minor risk and get paid god for it and become a draw while you do it..

Strong number for a fight where the outcome was preordained. Better is the 701k for 2 guys that no one really heard of.

It boggles my mind why any sports fan would think this rating is considered good. Historically speaking it is not.

Good numbers for a good fight... if only Pascal came to play. After his first performance, and after all the **** he's been talking, I did not expect him to be a complete no-show for this one.

Guess the people who said he was done were spot on.
