  • HBO Controls All Of The Top 10 P4P Fighters, All Are HBO Fighters

So HBO has all the sports top talent under contract, roman, canelo, crawford, bradley, ggg, kovelev, pacquiao, rigo etc

PBC has none of the top 10 but honorable mentions Danny Garcia, Wilder

Showtime has none and a mediocre mention is Adonis Chickenson

How is this good or bad for the sport? DISCUSS

    For the sport? Doesn't matter.

HBO is stuck with bunch of A sides and no B sides. PBC is the opposite.

Boxing is looking really ****** as sport right now.

HBO and Haymon need to solve this mess.

Doesn't mean anything when they have no one to fight. Look at the latest run of opponents:

        Chocolatito - Sosa/Viloria/TBA

        Kovalev - Pascal/Mohammedi/Pascal

Golovkin - Monroe/Lemieux/Wade (or some bum)

        Ward - Sullivan Barrera

        Rigo - Drian Francisco

        Crawford - Dulorme/Jean/Lundy

Pacquiao - Floyd fight got done. Great. But now will finish the worst trilogy in boxing history

Canelo - Kirkland/Cotto/TBA (probably some bum)

Yamanaka - Doesn't fight on HBO

        Bradley - Vargas/Rios/WOAT triology

So from 2015 to 2016 you have approximately 21 fights with these top 10 p4p fighters:

        1. 3 out of the 21 involved fights against top 3 fighters in the division (May/Pac, Pac/Bradley 3, Canelo/Cotto)

        2. 2 out of the 21 involved fights against other p4p ranked fighters (May/Pac, Pac/Bradley 3)

        3. 9 out of the 21 were fights against top 10 fighters in their division (Sosa, Viloria, Pascal X 2, Lemieux, Dulorme, Mayweather, Bradley, Cotto)

        That's pure unadulterated garbage.

To say it doesn't mean anything is ridiculous.

Golovkin-Canelo and Ward-Kovalev are the two biggest fights on the horizon in the sport. Only Fury-Wilder is clearly bigger and that's not happening any time soon. At least we have a shot with the other two.

Seriously. And the long-term prospects are even worse. That's the real problem for HBO. But these things have a way of sorting themselves out. Who knows what fighter breaks free or joins the network. At some point, deals will be made.

And exactly how long do we have to wait for that to happen? Oscar clearly wants another year before making the GGG fight and Ward/Kovalev is no guarantee either with Ward's history of injuries and pulling out of fights.

I'd be shocked if Ward/Kovalev happens any time soon because there is not enough money involved. Neither guy can sell tickets and the PPV will be a massive flop.

Maybe towards the end of 2017 when the hedge fund and time buys dry up.

Exactly. HBO and Haymon need to work it out. I don't have any allegiance to managers/promoters or networks because they represent (insert fighters name). That's where fans lose me. People don't focus on the larger issue. I just want everyone to fight each other.
