Kathy signed with HBO and that killed the deal. I would ask anyone who wouldn't want an open purse bid from both networks to see who will pay the most? Plus Stevenson is a huge draw in Canada and can pack the house no matter who he fights so a 50/50 split is ridiculous. I have nothing but admiration for Kovalev however from a business only stand point Stevenson is in the driver seat. 55/45 or 60/40 in favor of Stevenson and get it done already.

No Stevenson is not a huge draw and can't pack the house whoever he fights. His attendance have been embarrassing since running from HBO.
Espinoza's solution seems fair. The fight should either be a joint production between the two networks or else go to the network that is willing to pay the most money.
Montreal Bell Center (20,000 +) or Quebec City Videotron Center (18,000 +) would be packed for that fight ... GYM is a much better promoter than Main-Events as far as marketing a fight... M-E truly suck at it while Kovalev has the aura of a worm... GYM/Showtime are willing to be in it even without a purse bid... The real coward in all that is HBO...
It is quite clear regardless of what the projections are that Adonis does not want the fight. The simple fact is that if Adonis wanted to fight he has the flexibility to make the fight on HBO. This fight is clearly the biggest pay day that he will get for the rest of his career. Kovalev clearly wants that green belt. Kovalev has his big money fight in the bag against ward in the fall. Kovalev doesn't need this fight. Kovalev wants this fight. Adonis Stevenson needs this fight. Chickenson doesnt want this fight.

It couldn't be clearer, or fairer.
There isn't a single person in the world who could possibly object to it
1) a joint broadcast, split fairly 50/50..... leading to a great fight
2) a standoff, with one side demanding exclusive rights, simply to maximize their market share and profit margin..... leading to a failed negotiation
Stevenson was responsible for it not happening in 2014. Kovalev was responsible for it not happening last year. Both sides should be blamed and criticized heavily for denying us an undisputed light heavyweight champion
This. Exactly this.
And just relax guys. If it makes you feel any better, this time next year we can all complain about how Ward-Bertebiev is never going to happen.
