  • Comments Thread For: Adonis Stevenson's desire leaves light heavyweight fans wanting

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - It suddenly seems like decades ago. But fans of modern light heavyweights will remember exactly where they were on Nov. 30, 2013.

It was that night at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City that the two most prominent claimants to world 175-pound supremacy - Adonis Stevenson and Sergey Kovalev - dispatched overmatched foes in a combined eight rounds while stoking the fires for unification.

    Kind of a biased article

First of all KOv doesn't fill any seats, That's why he travels to others backyard he can't sell on his own. But in a way that's pretty bad as.s always going on the road and beating the guy down in his own home. Not a fan of Kov but the guy should be getting props because he seems to always take the short $ to get the fight done.

Duvas just a dirty c.unt, Why would a PBC fighter go over to HBo when he's the underdog for potentially less money, makes no sense to me. Along with pulling out of the purse bid it seems more like spin which some dumb fans are eating up.

Adonis gets sh.it on for his resume but look at who've they've fought since Nov 2013. Stevenson fought Fonfara one of the best in the div, Bika while nothing special still a former Olympian/World Champ and 2 cans one who was coming off a Dawson win and one who beat Kovs can that he fought in the summer. Plus Adonis has Dawson, Cloud & Bellew on his resume

While Kovs beat a aging Hopkins who last lost to Dawson. Pascal twice. Agnew , Blake Caplarello? And Mohammedi. Besides that only name on his resume is Cleverly who's lost to Bellew and Fonfara two of Adonis Ws.

If your being objective Stevenson probably has the deeper resume.

“Kovalev is considered the best light heavyweight in the world and he would be favored to beat Adonis Stevenson and any other light heavyweight in the world,” Kellerman said. “If Adonis Stevenson is content to be just a Canadian world champion, he could take those other fights. But if his point is to become a real superstar in boxing, I don’t think there’s a way around Kovalev in near future.”
This is the truth. No way for stevenson to get that stardom or recognition etc without going through kovalev

Espinoza offered either a joint promotion or a purse-bid..... but, nope.

            Eat **** and die HBO.

Watch the " fans " somehow blame Stevenson for that

Stevenson was responsible for it not happening in 2014. Kovalev was responsible for it not happening last year. Both sides should be blamed and criticized heavily for denying us an undisputed light heavyweight champion. That is no small accomplishment that the fighters and fans are being deprived of.

This is absurd. There is absolutely no one with any objectivity who would try and claim Stevenson has the better resume. You put the most biased spin possible on those names to try and make Adonis look better.

Campillo beat Cloud. Kovalev crushed him after that, while Adonis beat Cloud. Clear advantage for Kovalev.

Bellew beat Cleverly later at cruiserweight. Cleverly beat him when they were both relevant at LHW. Kovalev crushed Cleverly. Clear advantage cleverly.

I don't even have to get into Hopkins and Pascal. Clearly better than Dawson and Fonfara.

                Otherwise they're somewhat equal.

Kovalev clearly, CLEARLY has the better resume.

Fonfara, Eleider Alvarez, Chilemba, and Beterbiev are all better than Jean Pascal. I believe that one of those guys beats Adonis in 2016, and we never get to see Kovalev vs. Stevenson. HBO's only hope is that Ward beats Barerra, because I don't see anyone else on the horizon for Kovalev.
